Workshop outline

This half-day workshop looks at how Twitter can be used in the workplace both for research and as a communications tool. There will be an introduction on how Twitter works and examples of how organisations in different sectors are using Twitter as part of their information strategy.

Areas covered include

  • what is Twitter?
  • the jargon explained
  • how to get started and set up an account
  • filling out your profile, choosing an avatar and changing the background to your home page
  • identifying people to "follow "
  • what should you tweet?
  • Twitter search tools
  • how to use hashtags
  • Twitter etiquette

There will also be time for participants to experiment with Twitter as an information resource and also to set up an account, start "following" people, and tweet!

Notes and instruction sheets will be provided.

This session is suitable for people in all industry sectors, types of organisation, and job function.
