Without realising it you are probably already using RSS, blogs and wikis – all Web 2.0 technologies. Awareness of them amongst users will increase as Microsoft incorporates RSS and blogging into Office 2007, Outlook and IE 7 so don't get left behind. This workshop will guide you through the jargon and show you why you ought to be using these technologies as part of your daily routine.

The programme includes:

  • RSS, blogs and wikis defined
  • Why bother - key applications and reasons for using them
  • RSS for current awareness and news alerts
  • Identifying relevant RSS feeds and blogs
  • Using RSS and blogs to market your services and keep your users up to date
  • Setting up a blog for information delivery and as a collaborative tool
  • Using and setting up a wiki

There will be practical sessions during which you will set up your own personal alerts service using RSS, start a blog, and contribute to a wiki.

The course presenter is Karen Blakeman.
