The Internet is a vast information resource that also provides the means of communicating that information with just a click of the mouse. But not only do you have the problem of locating relevant resources, you also have to battle with the infoglut that arrives via email and discussion groups.

Suitable for users of information at all levels, this one day workshop looks at how you can use the Internet more effectively and efficiently.

The day will focus on:

  • essential search techniques
  • how to make more effective use of email
  • dealing with junk mail
  • strategies for organising your mail and Web resources
  • using RSS to increase current awareness and reduce information overload
  • security, privacy and confidentiality issues
  • monitoring changes to Web pages
  • keeping up to date

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to try out some of the techniques for yourself and each delegate will receive a comprehensive set of notes.

The main course presenter is Karen Blakeman.
