This half day seminar looks at what is involved in setting up shop on the Internet, from basic order placement pages to fully integrated systems with online payment, stock control and despatch. The seminar concentrates on off-the shelf applications and services and looks at how they can be combined into an online store.

Outline programme:

  • Planning the project: are your products and services suitable for e-commerce; is your business b2b or b2c; researching what is available; setting a budget
  • Levels of e-commerce: from basic order placement to full order, payment, despatch and stock control systems.
  • Legal requirements: Web site security; data protection; distance selling regulations.
  • Setting up shop: software packages; comparison of payment systems - pros and cons; hosting requirements.
  • Reviewing your progress: are people buying? will you be a millionaire this time next year?
